School Overview - Kibuli Secondary School

The school was established in 1945 as a Junior School, on the 80 acre land donated by the late Prince Badru Wasajja Kakungulu, with the major objective of educating Muslim children in order to redress the historical imbalance in Muslim education relative to other religious denominations.

In 1960 Kibuli Junior School was upgraded into secondary school education for both Muslims and non-Muslims. It started as a private school and in 1962 it became Government aided. In 1968 it was upgraded to ‘A’ level status.

From 1968 to 1975 the US through USAID (the 1st and 2nd IDA projects) contributed immensely to the construction of the school’s infrastructure, for instance the Administration block and Laboratories. Other facilities at the school were put up by the Agakhan Foundation, individual members and other parents through the Parents’ and Teachers Association.

Kibuli Secondary School is a co-educational boarding and government aided secondary school.

Our school motto: seek knowledge.

Books are treasures everyone should look for. Good books are the lighthouses that enlighten our families, school and society. They soothe the spirit, educate the heart, improve characters, explore unknown lands, and lead us to wisdom piety and delight. At KSS, reading as a skill is given a lot of attention. Learners at all class levels are taught the basic reading skills which they must exhibit during the reading sessions.

A brainteaser is a type of riddle that makes one think outside the box. Some brainteasers are easy, some are a little harder, and some can really make you ponder for a while. Often, when you finally hear the answer, you feel ignorant or silly, because it should have been obvious to you. However, brainteasers are fun. Therefore, we keep testing ourselves and hoping we get better at solving them.
