SCHOOL PROFILE
Background
The school was established in 1945 as a Junior School, on land donated by the late Prince BadruWasajjaKakungulu, with the major objective of educating Muslim children in order to readdress the historical imbalance towards Muslim education relative to other religious denominations.
In 1960 Kibuli Junior School was upgraded to secondary school education for both Muslims and non-Muslims. In 1962 it was upgraded toa government aided school. In 1968 it gained ‘A’ level status.
From 1965 to 1975 the US Government through USAID, the 1stand 2ndIDA projects to contribute immensely towards the construction of the school’s infrastructure, for instance the Administration block and Laboratories. Other facilities at the school were put up by the Agakhan Foundation, individual members and parents through the Parents’ and Teachers Association.

Staff
All our teachers are graduate teachers with more than half the staff with either a master’s degree or already pursuing doctorates in various fields of study. We have a relatively stable staff with a lot of teaching experience ranging from 5 – 20 years with continuous in service/refresher training.

It attracts students not only from Uganda, but also from the neighboring countries including Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and Somalia. Currently the school population is 2347and indicated below:

Curriculum
The official medium of communication for all classes is English, which is also the official language in Uganda.
Islam is at the centre of all the daily activities in and out of class. We offer a very wide curriculum at both O’ and A’ level and we are currently implementing the New Lower Secondary School Curriculum which is competency based.
Kibuli Secondary School has an excellent record as regards the students’ performance in the curricular and co-curricular activities.
Our students are exposed to a variety of co-curricular activities and through clubs like; Social Clubs, Debating Club, Music, Dance and Drama, Wild Life Club, First Aiders’ Club, Aids Club, Interact Club, Nkobazambogo Culture Club. The sports activities include football, basketball, net ball, table tennis, lawn tennis, volley ball, badminton, athletics and cricket. We are national and East Africa Secondary School Champions in several disciplines.
Expansion plans and Infrastructure Development
The need for expansion is tremendous, for instance, there is an urgent need for a new and bigger classroom block, new laboratory block, a resource center, staff quarters, an administration block, Computer room, new boy’s dormitories. In our strategic plan 2022-2026, we are looking forward to opening a new campus, Insha Allah.

The school has produced prominentsports personalities in Uganda and distinguished professionals in Medicine, Law, Survey, Architecture, teaching, Banking,politicsto mention but a few.
